How Do I Complete My Contributor Profile?

Completing a contributor application is the first step to becoming a Skyword contributor. This article guides you through the process of registering for an account, entering all of the required information, and submitting the application. If you haven't yet started the application, open it now by clicking here.

1. Create Your Skyword Account

The Create Your Skyword Account page is the first step in the registration process. You'll need to enter your name, email address, country of residence, and password, as shown in Figure 1. All information on this page is required.

2. Tell Us About Yourself

The About You page is the second step in the registration process. You'll need to enter your bio and location, professional photo, and the addresses of your web sites, as shown in Figure 2. The bio and location information is required. If you've uploaded a photo to Gravatar, that photo will automatically appear on this page.

3. Add Content Samples

The Content Samples page is the third step in the registration process. This page guides you through the process of finding, categorizing, and adding content samples to your Skyword profile. You must add a minimum of three content samples.

The process starts on the page shown in Figure 3. Enter your byline (your name or the name you go by) and the URL of the website on which your content is published. The Skyword Platform will find content that matches your byline. After you click Search, the Skyword Platform will automatically search the website for content you authored.

After the Skyword Platform has finished searching the website for content you've authored, the content will be displayed on the page shown in Figure 4. You can add content samples to your Skyword profile by clicking Add This Content. Note that you may not have authored all of the content displayed in the Content Search Results. You should not add content that you have not authored.

After you click Add This Content, the Edit Content Sample page shown in Figure 5 will appear. The Skyword Platform automatically fills in a lot of this data, making it easy for you to complete each record. On this page, you have the ability to categorize the content sample and change its title, description, publish date, thumbnail photo, and tags. You'll go through these easy steps for every content sample you want to add to your Skyword profile.

After you have added three or more content samples, you will see a message indicating that you can continue to the next step of the registration process, as shown in Figure 6. Click Next to continue to the next step.

Since the automated process may not always find all of your content samples, the Skyword Platform also provides a way to enter content manually. You can click the Enter it manually link to enter the full URL of your content sample, as shown in Figure 7. You will need to categorize the content sample and review its title, description, publish date, thumbnail photo, and tags.
